Heart cookies

In honor of Valentines Day I have made heart cookies. Originally I was going to make stained glass cookies but I misunderstood how, and thought that you melted down Jolly Ranchers and poured the candy into the baked cookies luckily my mom told me my mistake. But I didn't even melt the candy down yet so that was lucky. After that I made a second batch that didn't have holes in them and made sandwich cookies with jam, marshmallow fluff, and ganache as filling.

The Ingredients:
1/2 cup flour
1TBSP + 1 tsp corn starch
A pinch of salt
1/2 stick ( 1/4 cup) butter
3 TBSP sugar
1 tsp vanilla

Start by adding the salt, flour, and corn starch to a bowl.

Whisk the flour mixture together.

Next add the butter, sugar, and vanilla to a bowl.

And beat it for 20 seconds or until fluffy.

Add the butter mixture to the flour mixture.

And mix with a fork until a dough forms.

Lay out a sheet of wax paper

Place the dough on the wax paper and flatten into a disk.

Put another piece of wax paper on top of the dough and roll it out to a 1/4-1/2 inch thickness.

With a large heart ( or any shaped ) cookie cutter.

And then cut a smaller heart shaped hole in the middle.

Place the cookies on a baking sheet.

Top the raw cookies with colored sugar.

bake for 7-10 minutes.

Let the baked cookies cool for a few minutes and then remove from the pan and on to a cooling rack.
If you skip the step where you cut the smaller hole then you can add your choice of filling and have delicious sandwich cookies.
